So lazy...

Today is so blah. I have a bunch of work to do....I kinda don't feel like doing it but I really should since I'm going to be gone for a week. Utah in 3 days! What's in Utah? Well, Kayla is there. And Justin's parents. I must pay them a visit. I'll be staying on Hill Air Force Base. I'm pretty excited to get away for a few days but I'll miss my hubby. We haven't been apart for this long since we got together. (I know, "barf.") I'm a little scared of how this flight is going to be with Gabe. That kid can't sit still for more than .3 seconds. Alexis is super-excited to fly. I don't mind flying now but I had to be drugged on my first flight. I was 11, we went to L.A. for the Junior Olympics. I know, gangster. I was in Taekwondo. Anyway, our flight left on July 4th and there happened to be a bomb threat on a plane to L.A that night...didn't say from where or a time so I was majorly freaked out.

We had to reschedule 6 sessions this weekend and probably the one from tonight and tomorrow night. I'm a little bummed out but a little relieved so I can get some last minute packing done. I hate Indiana. This weather is ridiculous and it ruins plans quite often.

Who says cats are no good?

If you have a soft spot for mice then you probably don't want to look at this. Not that I have an overwhelming amount of readers anyway.

This morning I kept hearing a squealing noise coming from my bathroom. So I got up to check it out. Both cats are in there staring at a corner.

About an hour later Ollie is in the hallway hacking. I found him chewing on the mouse.

the kiddos

This was Gabe's first trip to the park. Of course it wasn't nearly as exciting for Alexis. Note the look of boredom on her face. Gabe liked the wood chips a little too much. Several times I had to take them away from him and pick them out of his mouth. Those can't possibly taste very good.

Business Planning

As of lately we've had some serious talk of finally making a business plan. A wise person told us that we've been doing everything we need to do this whole time, now it's just time to put it into writing. All of this talk of making the business plan is causing us some serious headaches. We have to do this, write that, meet this person or that person. But first we need the plan in writing. We have two people who are familiar with business plans who are going to get us started on that part. It's just a matter of meeting times and putting everything into words. The location is going to be one of the biggest parts of our plan. We need to do tons of research in order to find the perfect place for a successful studio. This is going to be a huge, drawn out process that could take quite a bit of time to make happen, years maybe. We need funding. We hope to find as much free money as possible. Fat chance but it's worth a try. I spoke with the owner of another studio that I frequent. He went in with no money, no equipment, nothing. He got lucky and the investor needed to back out after just five days and bought the entire business for $1. If only we could get that lucky.

What to blog about, what to blog about...

I think I'll start my blogging off with my latest hobby, dying yarn.

Apparently I forgot to bring a few of these pictures with me to work, but that's ok. My first step of this process is soaking the yarn in a nice solution of water, vinegar and a squirt of dish soap for an hour or so. Next I boil some water with quite a bit of vinegar. The more vinegar, the more vibrant the colors you get.

Here we'll add the boiling vinegar water to the dishes and mix in some pretty colors! (not sure why this is being underlined...but oh well.)
Next I paint...in no orderly fashion. I did learn a few little tips from Kayla. Paint large strips of a single color and measure the areas that I paint to prevent pooling.

Then microwave the yarn for five minutes. Flip it over and repeat. (here we go with this underlining again)

For the trim I kettle-dyed my skeins.

And here is the final product! Sold on Etsy at Kayla's shop.
